Our Story

Forge Creek Free Range is owned & operated by the Hahnemann family in East Gippsland.

Having made the decision to purchase our farm in 2010 & looking for the best farming fit for our property, the idea of Forge Creek Free Range was hatched!

From humble beginnings & just 40 hens we have continued to grow, housing 3500 hens in purpose built mobile trailers.

At a maximum stocking density of 500 hens per hectare, our girls are free to roam happily throughout the paddocks, enjoying access to fresh pasture & the shade offered by the majestic Gippsland Plains Red Gums, while under the watchful eyes of our alpacas.

We now work across 3 farms with 2 other farmers, an incredible team & 8,000 hens.

Our eggs have successfully been awarded medals at the Australian Food Awards for five consecutive years, including ‘Best in Class’ in 2016.

As we continue to grow, so does our commitment to our hen’s health & wellbeing, our focus on regenerative agriculture & our passion for providing our community with the highest quality produce.
